Skint is not financial advice. This page explains how we handle personal data when you use the Skint mobile app.
Who we are
Skint is operated by the publisher of the Skint app. For privacy questions, contact privacy@getskint.co.uk.
What we collect
Skint is a local-only app. There are no Skint accounts and no cloud sync. The information involved is:
- Budget and transaction data: all financial information you enter (income, bills, debts, savings, transactions, notes) stays on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers, because we don’t have any.
- Profile information: if you set a display name, profile photo, symbol, or emoji, this is stored on your device only.
- Analytics events (optional): when enabled in Settings → Security, Skint uses TelemetryDeck to understand feature usage in aggregate (for example, whether onboarding completed, which features are tapped). These events do not include your name, email, balances, or any personally identifying information. If TelemetryDeck is not configured in the build you have installed, no analytics are sent at all.
- Diagnostics (optional): when enabled in Settings → Security, an anonymised crash report is sent via Sentry to help us fix bugs. Money values, email addresses, phone numbers, and card-like sequences are scrubbed before transmission. If Sentry is not configured in the build you have installed, no diagnostics are sent.
- Purchases: Skint Pro is purchased through Apple. We never see your payment details — Apple tells the app whether you are entitled to Pro, and that is all.
- Notifications: if you opt in, the app schedules local reminders on your device for bills, paydays and similar. These reminders never leave your device.
- Photo library: if you choose a profile photo, the photo picker accesses only the image you select. The image is downscaled and stored locally; it is never uploaded.
- Biometric data: if you enable Face ID or Touch ID to lock the app, this is handled entirely by your device. Skint never receives or stores your biometric data.
Why we use it
We use analytics and crash diagnostics to improve reliability and understand which features are useful. Everything else exists only to make the app work for you on your device. We rely on legitimate interests for non-advertising product analytics, balanced against your rights.
Who we share with
- Apple — App Store distribution and Pro purchase processing.
- TelemetryDeck — privacy-oriented, anonymised analytics.
- Sentry — anonymised crash reporting.
- Professional advisers — only if required by law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Retention and deletion
Because Skint stores your data locally on your device, you control retention. You can delete all of your data at any time from Settings → Data → Delete all data, or simply by deleting the app. Anonymised analytics events and crash reports are retained by our processors (TelemetryDeck, Sentry) under their own retention policies and cannot be linked back to you.
Your rights (UK)
If UK GDPR applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to complain to the ICO. Contact us first at privacy@getskint.co.uk and we will help.
Children
Skint is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
